My Approach
I fundamentally believe that most PMs overindex on low-leverage skills -- while it is important to understand how the sausage is made, getting really good at writing user stories, or managing a backlog are not the skills that differentiate the top 10% of PMs from everyone else. If anything, those types of skills are things that I work to eliminate from my PM's day-to-day responsibilities, freeing them up to do much harder, more valuable work.
